How to Send Text Donations to Ukraine from Canada

The federal government announced last week it would be matching individual donations up to $10 million, made by Canadians to the Canadian Red Cross from February 24 to March 18, 2022, to support relief efforts for hose in Ukraine, which is under attack by Russia.

Canadians can donate by texting donations from their cellphones to the Canadian Red Cross’s Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal.

Telus recently announced the company and its team members are donating over $2,500,000 to support humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine. Telus customers can text UKRAINE to 20222 to make a $10 donation.

Rogers also announced it would make a donation to the Canadian Red Cross’s Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal, totalling $100,000.

According to Rogers, customers can donate $5 to the Red Cross by texting ROGERS to 20222 (English) or 30333 (French), with 100% of proceeds heading to relief efforts in Ukraine.

Shaw says it has donated $100,000 to the Red Cross’s Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal, and customers can donate $10 to the latter by texting UKRAINE to 20222.

Update: A Bell spokesperson confirmed to iPhone in Canada text donations can be made by texting UKRAINE to 20222.

Bell is also donating $100,000 to Red Cross Canada relief efforts for Ukraine. The company is also matching employee donations through its Employee Giving Program, up to $1,000 per employee.

Wireless carriers have already dropped long distance charges for calls from Canada to Ukraine, with some also waiving roaming charges for those currently in the country.
