Here are the iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 features Apple says Canada will be a part of at launch. Some of these features are also limited to an iPhone 12 or later as well.
New features in the past would debut as U.S.-only, but some of these latest features include support for English and also Canada. Check out the list below:
Mail
Smart search corrections (Available in English: Australia, Canada, India, Singapore, UK, and U.S.) – Intelligent search improves your results by correcting typos and using synonyms for your search terms.
Missing recipients and attachments (Available in English: Australia, Canada, India, Singapore, UK, and U.S.) – Get notified if you forget to include an important part of your message, like an attachment or a recipient.
Follow‑up (Available in English: Australia, Canada, India, Singapore, UK, and U.S.) – Move sent email messages to the top of your inbox so you can quickly send a follow‑up.
Siri
Emoji in texts (iPhone 12 or newer) – Insert emoji when sending messages with Siri. (English: Australia, Canada, India, UK, U.S.)
Hey Siri, what can I do here? (English: Australia, Canada, India, UK, U.S.; iPhone 12 or newer) – Discover Siri capabilities in iOS and apps by asking “Hey Siri, what can I do here?” You can also inquire about a specific app by saying, for example, “Hey Siri, what can I do with iRobot?”
Call hang up (English: Australia, Canada, India, UK, U.S.; iPhone 12 or newer) – You can now hang up a call completely hands free. Just say “Hey Siri, hang up” during a call (those on the call will hear you). This request is supported in Phone and FaceTime. You can enable this feature in Settings.
Expanded offline support (English: Australia, Canada, India, UK, U.S.; iPhone 12 or newer) – Siri processes more types of requests offline without an internet connection, including Home Control (HomeKit), Intercom, and Voicemail.
Dictation
All-new Dictation experience (English: Australia, Canada, India, Singapore, UK, U.S.; iPhone 12 or newer) – While dictating on device, you can move fluidly between voice and touch. Type with the keyboard, tap in the text field, move the cursor, and insert QuickType suggestions, all without needing to stop Dictation.
Automatic punctuation (English: Australia, Canada, India, UK, U.S.) – Dictation inserts commas, periods, and question marks for you as you dictate.
Emoji support (English: Australia, Canada, India, UK, U.S.; iPhone 12 or newer) – Insert emoji using your voice while dictating on device.
Accessibility
Live Captions Beta (English: U.S., Canada; iPhone 11 and later, iPad with A12 Bionic and later, and Mac with Apple silicon) – Transcriptions are generated automatically in real time for users who are deaf or hard of hearing so they can follow along more easily with conversations, audio, and video.
Live Captions in FaceTime Beta (English: U.S., Canada; iPhone 11 and later, iPad with A12 Bionic and later, and Mac with Apple silicon) – See automatically transcribed dialogue integrated into your FaceTime video calls. With speaker attribution, it’s easy to follow along with group conversations.
FaceTime
BetaLive Captions in FaceTime (iPhone 11 and later; iPad with A12 Bionic and later) – See automatically transcribed dialogue integrated into your FaceTime video calls. With speaker attribution, it’s easy to follow along with group conversations.
Spotlight
Start Live Activities (National Basketball Association and English Premier League Live Activities available in U.S. and Canada. Major League Baseball Live Activities available in U.S., Canada, Australia, UK, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, and South Korea) – Start Live Activities like tracking a sports game from a Spotlight result.
Visual Look Up
New domains for Visual Look Up (English: Australia, Canada, India, Singapore, UK, U.S.; iPhone with A12 Bionic and later) – Visual Look Up adds recognition of birds, insects, and statues.
Health App
Health Records: In addition, users can share their Health data with loved ones, and easily create a PDF of available health records from connected health institutions, right from the Health app.
iPadOS 16
New mailbox features
Easily unsend an email you just sent, schedule messages to be sent whenever you like, and get reminders to follow up or come back to a message later.3 You can also add rich links so your email has even more details at a glance. And if you forget to include an attachment or a recipient, Mail will catch those mistakes and ask if you want to add what’s missing.
Live Captions (Beta)
