Telus to Invest $220 Million in Edmonton This Year

Telus says it will invest $220 million across the City of Edmonton in 2022. The funds come from the telecom’s $17 billion investment in Alberta through 2026 towards operations, network infrastructure, and spectrum across the province.

According to the company, the overall $17 billion investment in Alberta will create 8,500 new jobs.

“This generational $17 billion investment in Alberta is a true demonstration of TELUS’ long-standing commitment to improving the lives of Canadians by connecting communities from coast-to-coast with our world-leading wireless 5G and PureFibre networks,” said Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS, in a statement on Tuesday.

Telus says its investment in Alberta will connect close to 1 million homes with PureFibre internet, including locations in Airdrie, Calgary, Edmonton, Leduc, Lloydminster, Spruce Grove, and St. Albert.

The company will also expand its 5G network to rural areas, while also debuting 5G Core and Multi-Access Edge Computing for enterprise applications.
