Paramount+ Premium Hits Canada in November, Ad Tier in 2024

Paramount+ is set to expand its direct-to-consumer distribution in Canada with the introduction of premium and ad-supported subscription tiers.

The premium plan, which will offer content in 4K UHD, HDR10, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos, is slated for a November 16 launch in Canada, along with Australia, Brazil, and Mexico. The ad-supported tier will be introduced in Canada starting in 2024, reports Variety.

The premium subscription will allow up to four concurrent streams, compared to the standard plan’s two streams. It will feature Paramount’s blockbuster movies, exclusive originals, and hit shows.

Update: In Canada, the premium plan is priced at $13.99 CAD monthly and $124.99 CAD annually.

Marco Nobili, Executive VP and International General Manager for Paramount+, stated that the company aims to “better serve different consumer segments by providing multiple pricing options while also tapping into tremendous opportunities among our advertising and brand partners.”

Paramount+ offers a range of content from its parent company’s brands and studios, including Paramount Pictures, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, and Showtime. The service’s original programming includes series like “Lioness,” “Yellowstone,” and “1923,” as well as the new “Star Trek” series.

The announcement comes as Paramount transitions from regular cable to operating its own subscription streaming and free ad-supported platforms, according to Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish. The service also offers live sports content in select international markets.
