Netflix, CBC, APTN Launch ‘North of North’ Production in Nunavut

Today marks the launch of production in Nunavut for the comedy series ‘North of North,’ previously known as ‘Untitled Arctic Comedy.’

The series is co-commissioned by CBC and Netflix, in association with APTN. Its production is handled by Red Marrow Media and Northwood Entertainment.

The series features a notable cast, including Mary Lynn Rajskub, known for her roles in ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ and ’24’; Maika Harper from ‘Law and Order: Toronto’ and ‘Burden of Truth’; Braeden Clarke, recognized for ‘Little Bird’ and ‘Outlander’; Jay Ryan of ‘It: Chapter Two’ and ‘Mary Kills People’; Kelly William, seen in ‘Portraits from a Fire’ and ‘Motherland’; along with Zorga Qaunaq, Doreen Simmonds from ‘True Detective: Night Country’, and Tanya Tagaq known for ‘Bootlegger’ and ‘Thoroughbred’. They join the previously announced cast members Anna Lambe and Keira Cooper.

‘North of North’ centers around a young Inuk mother aspiring to build a new future for herself in a small Arctic town where privacy is scarce.

Also, a huge nakurmiik to our community of Iqaluit for being so welcoming – we couldn’t do this show without your support!”, said Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.

Creators Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, recognized for their work on ‘Qanurli’ and ‘The Grizzlies,’ are at the helm of the project. The executive production team includes MacDonald, Arnaquq-Baril, Miranda de Pencier, Anya Adams, Susan Coyne, and Garry Campbell. The series will be directed by an array of talents including Anya Adams, Danis Goulet, Zoe Leigh Hopkins, Lisa Jackson, Renuka Jeyapalan, and Aleysa Young.
