Apple Vision Pro May Soon Feature Advanced Respiration Tracking
Apple appears to be developing a “respiration tracking” feature for its Apple Vision Pro, potentially enhancing the device’s capabilities during Mindfulness sessions.

The development comes from backend code unearthed by MacRumors, revealing references to the respiration tracking functionality within the code for the Mindfulness app on the Vision Pro headset.
This app currently provides users with immersive meditation experiences through guided or self-guided sessions, aimed at fostering mental well-being by focusing on breath awareness.
Breath awareness is a crucial aspect of mindfulness practice. Empirical research has shown that long-term mindfulness training can lead to notable differences in resting respiration rates. This potential feature in Apple Vision Pro aims to leverage this foundational element of mindfulness to enhance user experience.
While the Apple Watch already offers respiration rate tracking during sleep using its built-in accelerometer to measure movement and vibrations, it remains unclear how the Vision Pro will implement similar technology.
The Vision Pro also contains an accelerometer, but there is speculation that sensors capable of monitoring changes in facial musculature might also play a role during mindfulness sessions.

Despite the intriguing discovery, details about the official launch of the respiration tracking feature remain scarce. There is no confirmed timeline for when this feature might become available to users.
However, Apple is set to unveil visionOS 2 at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which begins next week on June 10. This event could provide further insights or official announcements regarding the new feature.
