Collision Tech Conference Will Not Return to Toronto in 2025

The Collision tech conference, which kicks off in Toronto next week, will not be returning to the city in 2025. Organizer Wed Summit has announced that it will host a new flagship event in Vancouver.
As reported by CP24, the company says, “Web Summit Vancouver will take over from Collision in Toronto, which became the fastest-growing technology event in North America. The new event will continue the company’s mission to support and connect the global technology ecosystem.”
Collision has had an ongoing presence in Toronto since 2019. Each year, the tech conference brings startups, developers, and business professionals under one roof. The week-long event sees countless panels being hosted on several topics including AI, content creation, fundraising, ethics, etc. Web Summit states that it has since contributed $189 million in economic impact to Toronto. Keep in mind that during 2020-2021, Collision held virtual events due to COVID-19.
Collision 2024, which opens its doors in Toronto on June 17 – June 20, is projected to bring $77 million in economic impact to Toronto. 40,000 tech entrepreneurs from over 130 global markets are believed to be flying into the city.
“The time has come to transition Collision into Web Summit. We have had the most incredible time in Toronto and are looking forward to continuing our Canadian journey in Vancouver,” Paddy Cosgrave, the founder and CEO of Web Summit, says.
This year, Collision is hosting Jeff Shiner, CEO of 1Password Canada as well as InteraXon Muse founder Ariel Garten. In the past, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, actor Seth Rogen, and AWS CEO Adam Selipsky have been speakers at Collision.
Collision has been supported by global partners including Microsoft IBM, Qualcomm, and Dell Technologies.
