Koodo Hikes Price of Select Black Friday Plans, Just Like Virgin Plus
It looks like Virgin Plus isn’t the only carrier that has increased the prices of select Black Friday plans. Telus-owned Koodo implemented their own change back in April.
According to iPhone in Canada readers, Koodo included a notification in March billing statements about the price hike. One reader reported that their $34 per month plan for 50 GB was increased to $39. That’s a price increase in just seven months. Back in March of this year, Koodo offered this $34/50GB plan to some existing customers.
The notice was at the end of the billing statement under “update to your monthly rate plan,” effective from April 2024, according to the billing statement seen by iPhone in Canada.
“I was on a Black Friday special from Koodo, $34 for 50 gig. And Koodo had eliminated the plan and hikes me up to $39 for the same data. Needless to say I was rather annoyed. I switched from another carrier, who I had been with for many years to get that plan,” wrote the Koodo customer in an email to iPhone in Canada.
“I didn’t actually see the note on my bill initially. I got a reminder email saying I had a balance and it was there I noticed the larger amount outstanding so I called in. The client service staff pointed it out on my bill. They simply added a single paragraph at the very end of my bill, saying we’re charging more, take or leave it.”
The notification in the March 1, 2024 billing statement, found at the bottom of page four, informed customers of the price hike from $34 to $39 per month. Koodo’s note says if you do not agree with the plan change, you can cancel your service “without penalty” within 30 days of the change date.
Again, you may want to check your billing statement for any plan price increases. With pre-authorized payments, it’s easy to miss a small price increase on your credit card statement. Fido customers–you also may want to check your billing statements too.

I moved to this plan during December 2023 Boxing Week and haven’t received a notice (yet). I did see that Koodo increased the cost of many add-ons (voicemail, etc) between March and June 2024.
Collusion you say? The thought police will show up at your door if you dare to insinuate that CRTC is a corrupt lieberal blood sucking entity who's sole purpose is to bleed Joe Consumer dry with taxes and give total immunity to the Cartel that pays for their expensive dinners.
Wake up people. Burying your head in the sand and pretending that everything is ok is not going to work forever.
So, did mobilesyrup reach out to Koodo for comment?
The Koodo business plan
1. Switch to electronic billing
2. Make it inconvenient for people to access their monthly statements
3. Bury important information like price hikes at the back of the statements that most people don't look at
4. Profit
what a joke. I guess you get what you pay for with these clowns
