iPhone 16 Pro Said to Get iPhone 15 Pro Max Camera: Report
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 Pro is said to include a tetraprism periscope camera, featuring a 5x optical zoom that first appeared on last year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max, according to DigiTimes (via MacRumors).
The tetraprism camera components for the iPhone 16 Pro will be primarily supplied by Taiwanese lens manufacturers Largan Precision and Genius Electronic Optical (GSEO). Sources within the supply chain have revealed that both companies are ramping up production in anticipation of the iPhone 16’s release, reports Digitimes.
Largan is once again expected to receive a significant portion of the orders, like it did for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max offers up to 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom and was first to get a tetraprism periscope lens. Last year’s iPhone 15 Pro only had a 3x optical zoom and users had to pay extra for the iPhone 15 Pro Max to get the best zoom.
For iPhone 16 Pro, it looks like this 5x zoom camera is coming to match its big brother the 16 Pro Max—without consumers needing to pay more. Will unified cameras be the norm for this year’s iPhone 16 Pro lineup?
