Amazon Launches New Echo Spot Ahead of Prime Day with Special Price

Amazon has unveiled the all-new Echo Spot, the company’s Alexa-enabled smart alarm clock, in celebration of Prime Day.

Designed for the nightstand, the new Echo Spot features a compact, colourful display that shows the time, weather, and song titles. Prime members can purchase the Echo Spot for $99.99 (Prime Day deal now live at $64.99!). This new Echo Spot comes with a price drop as its predecessor was priced at $169.99.

This time around, the circular display is now a semi-circle compared to the previous generation.

Available in Black, Glacier White, and Ocean Blue, the Echo Spot keeps the semi-spherical shape of its predecessor while bringing improved visuals and enhanced audio quality. It includes a 1.73-inch front-firing directional speaker, offering clear vocals and deep bass. There will be new colourful visual animations when music plays and you can interact with the device using customizable clock faces.

Of course, Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant can set alarms, play music, and provide weather updates. The Echo Spot features new custom alarm sounds like Aurora and Daybreak, and allows users to tap the device to snooze alarms.

The Echo Spot integrates with compatible smart home devices, enabling users to set up Alexa Routines for automating daily tasks, such as turning on lights or starting the coffee pot. There are privacy controls to let users turn off the microphone (button on back) and manage voice recordings.

Why would I pay 170$ (or even 100$ on special) for this contraption when I can get an Echo 5 that has an actual useful screen? SMH….
