Rogers has pledged to match all donations up to $100,000 for the Canadian Red Cross 2024 Alberta Wildfires Appeal. Donations can be made by texting ROGERS to 20222 for a $5 donation.
Rogers also says it is supporting customers affected by the evacuation orders in Jasper by crediting their internet, home phone, and TV services during the evacuation period. The company has also opened free WiFi hotspots across Alberta and British Columbia, available to the general public. Backup generators have been brought in to support local crews in maintaining critical infrastructure.
Telus
Telus is supporting evacuated Telus and Koodo Mobile postpaid customers with a 50 GB data top-up to ensure they remain connected, according to an update posted on its website.
Also, Telus Health is providing a free community crisis hotline at 1-844-751-2133 for emotional support. Telus is donating $100,000 to support wildfire rebuilding efforts in Jasper and offering disaster kits at evacuation centers.
Telus says SmartHome Security services will stay active so customers can remotely monitor their homes.
To further aid relief efforts, team members, retirees, and customers can text DONATE to 41010 to give $20 to the Telus Friendly Future Foundation, and customers in Alberta and British Columbia can redeem their Telus Rewards points for donations.
