Lego and Nintendo are once again partnering on the all-new ‘Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi’ set. This nostalgic-fueled Lego set is now available to preorder.
Announced this week, the stunning Lego set can be preordered for $169.99 in Canada. Expected to ship on October 1st, Lego enthusiasts can celebrate Super Mario World, one of the greatest 2D Mario games. The 1990 sidescroller made for SNES is one of my all-time favourite games. So it’s no wonder this set immediately caught my attention.
The Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi Lego set is said to be comprised of 1,215 pieces. Inspired by the 2D 16-bit pixel design of the game, the set highlights both Mario and Yoshi. The set itself stands at 15 inches, making it perfect to place on a desk, shelf or side table.
The free-standing set features a handle that makes it appear as if Yoshi is running with Mario on his back. There’s also a dial that’ll make Yoshi’s tongue pop in and out. The backside of the set features all the glorious Lego engineering and mechanisms that are required for these unique features. Once assembled, the duo ride across an accurately depicted grassy hill from the game.
Lego and Nintendo have partnered on a growing number of incredible sets over the years. This includes the impressive amount of interconnected Super Mario sets. Lego has also released a stunning Nintendo Entertainment System set, with so many nods to the iconic console. Outside of Mario, Lego and Nintendo have also launched an Animal Crossing set.
