Public Mobile Launches New Canada-US Plans, Worse Than Before

Public mobile august 2024

Telus-owned Public Mobile noted its Canada-US plans that matched Freedom Mobile were set to expire on July 25.

As expected, new plans were made available today, including revamped Canada-US offerings, which are now worse than before as less data is available.

Here are the new Public Mobile plans as of writing:

  • $19/1GB 4G
  • $23/6GB 4G
  • $30/15GB 4G
  • $34/15GB 5G Canada-US (-25GB, was 50GB)
  • $34/50GB 5G (promotion)
  • $39/80GB 5G (promotion)
  • $39/50GB 5G Canada-US
  • $44/80GB 5G Canada-US

The previous $15 talk and text plan has been eliminated, along with $20/2GB, $29/30GB 4G plans.

The previous Canada-US 5G plans were $34/50GB, $40/75GB and $50/100GB. You now get less data than before.

These new plans look to target back to school but we have a hunch the old plans may return in time for Black Friday. We have yet to see any flanker brands from Rogers, Telus or Bell match Freedom Mobile’s now standard Canada-US-Mexico roaming for talk, text and data on all plans, to go with 5G (no more 4G plans).

Telus still panicking trying to stop churn while preserving their ARPU.

I’d imagine their numbers are looking real bleak right now. Even Rogers is undercutting them (at least Public mobile is doing something close to Freedom though)
