Prime Video Debuts Teaser Video For Like A Dragon: Yakuza Series

During San Diego Comic-Con, Prime Video debuted the first official look at its upcoming Like A Dragon: Yakuza series.
The short minute-long video focuses on a tattoo being printed, on central character Kazuma Kiryu (played by Ryoma Takeuchi). There’s also a series of snippets taken from the series, depicting Kamurochō, the central location of the series. It ends with the confirmation that Like A Dragon: Yakuza premieres on October 24th.
Like A Dragon: Yakuza was earlier revealed to be an original take on Sega’s Yakuza crime series, which first began in 2005. Focusing on Kiryu, the series will follow the character’s upbringing and childhood friendships and how they’ve evolved as he becomes engrained in the criminal underbelly of the Yakuza. The series spans two time periods, 1995 and 2005.
The description of the teaser reads as follows: “The series depicts the lives of fierce yet passionate gangsters and people living in a huge entertainment district, Kamurochō, a fictional district modeled after the violent Shinjuku ward’s Kabukichō, that acts as the backdrop of the gameplay. Like a Dragon: Yakuza showcases modern Japan and the dramatic stories of these intense characters, such as the legendary Kazuma Kiryu, that games in the past have not been able to explore.”
Like A Dragon: Yakuza is being broken up into two parts. The first three episodes will premiere at once on Thursday, October 24th. The final three episodes will be released the following week on Thursday, October 31st.
Amazon’s Prime Video’s latest video game adaptation will be following in the footsteps of the Fallout series. Being a critical success for fans and newcomers, it’ll be interesting to see what the reception will be for Like A Dragon: Yakuza later this year.
