Uber Eats Brings Cannabis Delivery to Alberta

Uber Eats announced today that Albertans can order legal cannabis for home delivery through a partnership with Leafly starting on Tuesday, July 30.

The service allows residents aged 18 and older to place orders from local licensed cannabis retailers via the Uber Eats app. Deliveries will be made by the retailers’ provincially certified staff.

“More Albertans are accessing legal cannabis than ever before. We are partnering with industry leaders like Leafly to help retailers offer safe, convenient options for people in Alberta to purchase legal cannabis for delivery directly to their homes. This will help reduce impaired driving and improve road safety,” said Klaas Knieriem, General Manager of Grocery and Retail for Uber Eats in Canada, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.

To order cannabis through Uber Eats, users must select the “Cannabis” category in the app or search for a licensed retailer. After confirming their legal age, users can browse the retailer’s menu, place an order, and have it delivered by the retailer’s provincially certified staff, with age and sobriety verified upon delivery.

“We are thrilled to continue our work with Uber Eats to help licensed retailers bring safe, legal cannabis to people across Canada,” added Yoko Miyashita, CEO of Leafly.

At launch, five cannabis retailers will be part of the Uber Eats delivery in Calgary and Edmonton:

Calgary

  • Dank Cannabis
  • Ogden Cannabis
  • Oil & Grass Cannabis
  • Oakridge Cannabis

Edmonton

  • NUMO Cannabis

This new expansion follows similar Uber Eats and Leafly cannabis launches in Ontario in 2022 and British Columbia in 2023.
