Xbox has announced that Mafia: Definitive Edition will be coming to Xbox Game Pass next month on August 13th.
As part of its monthly rollout of new games, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can look forward to getting their hands on the 2020 action-adventure game Mafia: Definitive Edition. The game, developed by Hanger 13, is a faithful recreation of the iconic 2002 original Mafia game.
“A re-made classic is on its way,” the Xbox Game Pass posted on X (formally Twitter).
In Mafia: Definitive Edition, players follow the rise of Tommy Angelo, a Sicilian American cab driver as he makes his way through the ranks of the Salieri crime family. The game offers an open world to explore in between core missions. However, despite its open world, the game doesn’t offer quite the same sandbox as Grand Theft Auto.
At launch, the game was met with a fair amount of positive criticism. Hanger 13 was applauded for making the game a full-fledged recreation of the fan-beloved original and adding new elements. This included an expanded story on top of 4K visuals and enhanced gameplay, modernizing the experience.
Interestingly, Xbox has not revealed the full lineup of new games arriving on Xbox Game Pass in the first half of August. While still unknown, we’ll likely get more information on the games launching on the service alongside Mafia: Definitive Edition soon.
In the latter half of July, Xbox Game Pass introduced games like Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Dungeons of Hinterberg, and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. As of July 31, A Short Hike, Train World 4, and Venba are leaving the service.
