Bell Adds Free Crave Basic with Ads to Wireless Plans

Bell has added a free perk to its 5G wireless plans, now including Crave Basic with Ads, for a limited time. The change was made on Thursday and a Bell spokesperson confirmed the addition to iPhone in Canada.

Crave Basic with Ads launched last summer, priced at $9.99 per month, along with a Crave Standard with Ads plan at $14.99 per month. Going ad-free requires paying $19.99 for the Crave Premium Ad-Free plan.

Bell’s wireless plans, priced from $65 per month for its BYOD plan with 75GB, include Crave Basic with Ads. The free streaming subscription remains as long as you stay with your rate plan. If you change your plan then that will see Crave Basic with Ads disappear.

This entry Crave plan only supports streaming on once device at a time and up to 720p resolution. The plan also has a limited number of titles that are not available due to licensing restrictions, while Apple AirPlay, Roku, PS4 and PS5 support are also lacking in this entry plan. The fine print says, “Crave Basic with Ads will automatically stop after promotional period.”

If you’re on one of these existing Bell plans, you may want to reach out and see if Crave Basic with Ads is available for you or not. Why give free Crave Basic with Ads to mobile subscribers? It’s one way to increase the active subscriber count of Crave.

Update August 2, 2024: Previously, Crave Standard was offered nationwide and in Quebec for Ultimate plans only. This perk expired at the end of January of this year for nationwide customers, while Quebec saw the Crave Standard perk end on April 2, 2024, confirmed a Bell spokesperson to iPhone in Canada.

Earlier today, Bell reported its Q2 earnings seeing a rise in net profit, likely helped by its recent cost savings earlier in the year that slashed thousands of jobs.

Interesting since they removed the free Crave mobile from my plan today with out telling me at all. I woke up to a text stating it was removed from my wireless plan.

Telus offered me with Crave, Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video with ads. All this for free with my phone lines for two years. If you negotiate you’ll get it.

Limited titles, one device at a time, no Airplay, 720p only, it comes with ads, and Crave basic stops after promotional period. Thank you?

Interesting! 720 resolution but those plans only permit 480 resolution! As they are standard definition…
