SaskTel has expanded its infiNET service in Saskatchewan to a dozen more communities.

The crown corporation announced on Thursday infiNET fibre optic broadband is now available in Bengough, Buffalo Narrows, Caronport, Dalmeny, Gull Lake, Kipling, Outlook, Oxbow, Pense, Preeceville, Rocanville, and Willow Bunch.

“Bringing our infiNET network to these communities isn’t just about connecting homes; it’s about connecting lives and empowering our customers with fast and reliable internet service,” said Charlene Gavel, SaskTel President and CEO, in a statement to iPhone in Canada. “This latest expansion is another positive step forward in our ongoing vision to be the best at connecting our customers to the world.”

The expansion to Buffalo Narrows, Caronport, Dalmeny, Gull Lake, Kipling, Outlook, Oxbow, Pense, Preeceville, and Rocanville is part of SaskTel’s $280 million Rural Fibre Initiative, which aims to expand high-speed internet to nearly 200 rural communities to cover 85% of Saskatchewan households and businesses.

As of today, SaskTel infiNET is now available in over 60 communities and is the largest fibre optic broadband network in the province. SaskTel’s infiNET service offers internet download speeds up to a Gigabit per second.
