Apple Account Gets Apple Wallet Support in Canada

Apple has expanded the ability to add an Apple Account card to Apple Wallet in Canada, a feature that previously was only available in the US from two years ago, according to MacRumors, as spotted by Nicolás Álvarez.

What the heck does this do? It essentially brings your Apple Account balance to Apple Wallet, allowing you to “pay with your iPhone in the Apple Store, shop online or buy apps, subscriptions, and other services.”

Of course, this feature is available now when it’s no longer possible to buy discounted iTunes cards at Costco and other retailers, like way back in the day. That would have allowed discounted balances to buy hardware from Apple Stores.

How to add your Apple Account card to Apple Wallet? First, you’ll need to have iOS 17.6 installed. Then, launch the Wallet app on iPhone, tap the “+” in the top right, then select “Add Apple Account” and follow the steps.

The next time you want to pay for something you can easily select your Apple Account and use your balance if you have one. You’re better off paying with a credit card when making purchases for purchase protection and credit card perks though, in our opinion. But if someone gifted you an Apple Gift Card this is another way to easily pay with your balance.

Aside from Canada, support for Apple Account in Wallet also is now available in Australia, joining the US and Japan.

Tried using this at Dollarama via tap, didn't work. Guess that wasn't the intended use case.

It’s called Apple Account card for a reason, not Apple Cash card. You can use it for App Store purchases/subscriptions and you can tap it at the Apple Store.
