Two-Part ‘Sound of Apple’ Podcast Series Debuts From Twenty Thousand Hertz

The Twenty Thousand Hertz podcast has published a two-part series dubbed ‘ The Sound of Apple’. The two episodes offer a fascinating look behind the Cupertino company’s sound engineering and audio philosophy, as first reported by 9to5Mac.

In total, the Sound of Apple series spans roughly an hour. Twenty Thousand Hertz sits down with multiple Apple design team members alongside audio engineers. For those interested in hearing about the lesser-known details of Apple’s audio design, both episodes are worth checking out.

Episode one of The Sound of Apple features Billy Sorrentino, Hugo Verweij and Kelly Jacklin. The episode covers the Apple design team’s sound design philosophy, including the origins of the Tritone alert. Additionally, the episode pulls back the layers behind some of the Apple Watch sounds.

In the second episode of The Sound of Apple, the Apple design team covers the iPhone’s default ringtones, and the evolution of the alarm sounds alongside the UX of AirPods Pro. On top of that, beatmaker Flying Lotus discusses his collaboration with Apple.

It’s a fairly easy listen and has some notable tidbits. For those interested in Apple’s sound engineering and what went into the creation of some of the ecosystem’s most iconic sounds, it’s easy to recommend.
