Google Gemini Users Get Custom Gems, Advanced Imagen 3

Google is rolling out new features for its Gemini platform, introducing customizable AI experts called “Gems” and enhancing its image generation capabilities with the launch of Imagen 3.

These updates, which were first previewed at Google I/O, are now available to Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise users, marking a significant upgrade in the platform’s AI-powered offerings.

Starting this week, Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise subscribers will have access to a new feature called Gems. Gems are customizable versions of Gemini, designed to function as personal AI experts on any topic of your choosing.

This feature allows users to create AI-driven assistants tailored to their specific needs, making it easier to tackle complex projects, brainstorm ideas, or manage repetitive tasks.

To create a Gem, users simply need to provide instructions, give it a name, and then interact with it just like they would with any other AI assistant. For instance, a user could create a Gem to help plan a themed party, write compelling social media captions, or break down complicated topics into simpler terms.

To help users get started, Google is offering a selection of pre-made Gems tailored to various scenarios:

  • Learning Coach: Simplifies complex topics, making them easier to understand.
  • Brainstormer: Provides fresh ideas for events, gifts, and other creative projects.
  • Career Guide: Offers detailed plans to help refine skills and achieve career goals.
  • Writing Editor: Enhances writing by providing feedback on grammar, structure, and style.
  • Coding Partner: Assists with coding projects and learning new programming skills.

In addition to Gems, Google is also launching Imagen 3, the latest iteration of its AI-driven image generation model. Imagen 3 is designed to produce high-quality images from simple text prompts, allowing users to create visuals in a variety of styles, from photorealistic landscapes to artistic oil paintings and whimsical claymation scenes.

Imagen 3 represents a significant improvement over its predecessor, Imagen 2, offering enhanced image quality while maintaining Google’s commitment to responsible AI usage.

The model comes with built-in safeguards and adheres to Google’s product design principles, ensuring that users remain in control of the creative process. If the initial image doesn’t meet expectations, users can simply provide new instructions to Gemini for further refinement.

One of the key advancements in Imagen 3 is its capability to generate images of people, which will be available initially in an early access version for Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise users. These images will be rolled out in English first, with plans to expand to more languages and users in the near future.

Google has emphasized that Imagen 3 will not support the generation of photorealistic, identifiable individuals, depictions of minors, or content that is excessively violent, gory, or sexual.

These exciting updates are gradually rolling out to users, with the new features expected to be fully available in the coming days.
