TTC Adds Real-Time Bus, Streetcar Diversions via Transit App

Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) riders can now see real-time bus and streetcar diversions due to on-street emergencies, extreme weather, construction, or other unexpected events using Montreal-based Transit app.
The TTC has partnered with the Transit app to pilot this detour detection feature for all bus and streetcar routes for 12 months. The app automatically detects diversions when a vehicle makes three consecutive trips off its regular route.
Affected sections are marked with dashed lines, and closed stops are shown with an “x” icon on the route map. Once the vehicle returns to its normal route, the detour information is removed. Also, if a streetcar route has been replaced with buses, that will also show in the app. What does this mean? You’ll be able to plan your travel on the TTC much better, if a bus or streetcar decides to go rogue due to some unplanned event.
The Transit app is exclusively providing this detailed diversion information, and the app is available for free on iOS and Android. Users can view route maps, real-time vehicle locations, arrival times, and temporary stops in the Transit app.
