Fizz Expands Wireless Service to 2.2 Million More Canadians
Videotron’s digital wireless service, Fizz, has announced an expansion to over 2.2 million additional Canadians, reaching new areas in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Québec.
The expansion includes destinations like Whistler and Kelowna in British Columbia, Lethbridge and Red Deer in Alberta, Portage and La Prairie in Manitoba, and several new communities in Ontario. In Québec, Fizz is now available in Gaspésie, Côte-Nord, and Bas-Saint-Laurent.
“We are proud to expand Fizz’s service area and allow more Canadians to take advantage of customized, innovative, highly competitive wireless plans that truly meet their needs,” said Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor, in a statement to iPhone in Canada on Thursday.
This expansion was enabled through partnership agreements under the CRTC’s Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) regime.
Fizz offers fully customizable plans, and data rollover, and also allows members to gift data to each other. Videotron’s parent company is Quebecor, the owner of Freedom Mobile. Right now Fizz is offering a $40 bonus when you sign up under a friend (use code 7SRQ7).

It’s confusing a bit at first what this even means… to be clear there’s no material change to the network, this is referring to Fizz’s equivalent to Freedom “subscription area”. Where now the people who lives in the above listed towns can now subscribe to Fizz services. Right?
Yes, all above towns / Cities can now join Fizz, but there is an Extended Subscription area which does not use Freedom's network, but uses MVNO agreements (Rogers, Bell, Telus).
Subscription area is within Freedom or Videotron's network.
The agreement with Fizz is that your number must be based at an address in one of the communities they offer services in. If the majority (or more likely exclusively) of your use is outside those areas on roaming, they reserve the right to terminate your service.
It's worth noting the Fizz roaming agreement gives pretty much seamless roaming coverage no matter where you go because they can use both Bell and Rogers towers. I've been with Fizz since December 2023 as a backup service and it's tended to be more reliable than Virgin mobile at times.
