Apple’s Vision Pro to Recieve M5 Chip and Apple Intelligence Upgrade: Kuo

A second version of Apple’s Vision Pro headset is believed to be entering mass production in the second half of 2025. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes it’ll feature some notable upgrades, including an improved processor and Apple Intelligence support.

In a recent Medium post, Kuo claims that the next version of Vision Pro will leap an M2 processor to a vastly improved M5 chip. With the upgrade to an M5 processor, Kuo speculates that Vision Pro will offer far better performance benchmarks, with compute power boosted significantly. Using the M5 chip, Vision Pro will also be able to support Apple Intelligence features.

Kuo goes on to state that the next version of Vision Pro may not feature drastic design changes or significant revisions to hardware specs. Instead, Apple may be focused on managing production costs. However, it’s sadly speculated that the $4,999 CAD price tag will remain largely the same, carrying over a significant cost investment from the first-generation device.

Later in the piece, Kuo discusses Apple’s ambitions within spatial computing. The analyst suggests that the improvement in performance and use of AI features could help Apple create better use cases for its headset. With this in mind, Apple will leverage these use cases as a means to help drive further adoption across mainstream users. Kuo believes that Apple may integrate advanced AI models like text-to-video capabilities, much like Sora from OpenAI.

Earlier this year, it was reported that the next Vision Pro headset would adopt Apple Intelligence by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. At the time, Gurman speculated that Vision Pro may adopt Apple Intelligence features like notification prioritization, writing tools, an OpenAI chatbot, and the new Siri. Given that Apple Intelligence hasn’t fully launched yet, it’s hard to pinpoint how much of an effect it’ll have on the day-to-day use cases within the Apple ecosystem.
