Twelve South recently introduced the ButterFly SE, a 2-in-1 Qi2 charger that’s a new entry update to last year’s ButterFly.
The ButterFly SE allows users to charge both an iPhone and an Apple Watch or AirPods simultaneously from a single, compact unit, making it ideal for travel or business trips.
The charger is compatible with iPhones featuring MagSafe (iPhone 12 and newer), Apple Watches (all series), and AirPods with a wireless charging case, also doubles as a hands-free viewing stand.
The device is available in three new colours as well: Black, White, and Pink, and comes with a matching braided 1-metre USB-C cable. Users need to pair it with any 30W or higher USB-C power adapter, sold separately. This time there’s a soft touch exterior that’s not metal like the original, likely helping to lower the cost (hence the SE moniker like Apple Watch SE).
The ButterFly SE does not include 4 international plug adapters or a 30W USB-C power adapter like the original, hence the lower price of $99.99 USD (versus $129.99 for the ButterFly).
With 15W charging for MagSafe iPhones and a 5W Apple Watch fast charger, the ButterFly SE will keep your devices juiced up while you travel, but in a super compact solution.
We really enjoyed using the ButterFly for travel as it’s just so compact (still priced at $169.95 from Apple.ca). This time around, it offers faster Qi2 charging speeds and new colours, which is a nice bonus. We’ll get Canadian pricing soon, stay tuned.
