Ontario is Getting a New Area Code in 2025, Says CRTC

A new area code is coming to Ontario in the spring of 2025, announced the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) today.
Starting April 26, 2025, Ontario will debut a new 942 area code to meet the growing demand for phone numbers in the region. Current area codes are 416, 437, and 647. The decision was made to ensure there are enough phone numbers in the province.
“The introduction of a new area code creates millions of additional telephone numbers without affecting the existing numbers,” said Kelly T. Walsh, Program Manager of the Canadian Numbering Administrator, in a statement. “The new 942 area code will be added to the current area codes already in use in this region and will cover the same geographic area.”
After the rollout date, new phone numbers may come with the 942 area code, though the change won’t affect local calling boundaries or dialing procedures. Emergency numbers, like 911, will remain the same, just needing three digits to dial. Who’s excited to get a 942 area code?

Gary, i notice you did not mention 519 or 905 in the existing Ontario area codes. Did you mean to say 924 is going to be in Toronto only?
Yes. Because Toronto is the centre of the universe
