How to Connect AirPods to Your iPhone or Android Device [VIDEO]
Apple has recently released a support video on YouTube explaining how to connect AirPods to iPhones automatically, as well as providing steps for pairing them manually with Android devices via Bluetooth settings.

Connecting AirPods to an iPhone is an incredibly simple and automated process, thanks to Apple’s integration across its ecosystem. To ensure everything runs smoothly, make sure your iPhone has the latest version of iOS installed.
Once that’s confirmed, follow these steps to pair your AirPods with your iPhone:
- Go to the Home Screen: Ensure your iPhone is unlocked and on the Home Screen.
- Open the AirPods Case: With your AirPods still inside the charging case, open the lid and hold the case near your iPhone.
- Tap “Connect”: A setup animation will appear on your iPhone. Simply tap “Connect” when prompted.
- Follow On-Screen Instructions: If you’re using AirPods Pro (1st or 2nd generation) or AirPods (3rd or 4th generation), follow any additional on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
- Siri Setup: If you’ve already set up Siri on your iPhone, it will be automatically enabled for your AirPods. If Siri isn’t set up, and you’re using AirPods Pro or AirPods 2nd to 4th generations, you’ll be guided through the Siri setup process.
- Tap “Done”: Once the setup is complete, tap “Done.” Your AirPods are now connected to your iPhone.
While AirPods work best with Apple devices, they can still function as Bluetooth earbuds when paired with non-Apple devices like Android smartphones or Windows PCs.
Here’s how to pair your AirPods with an Android phone or another non-Apple device:
- On your Android phone or other non-Apple device, open the Bluetooth settings. For Android phones, go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth and ensure Bluetooth is turned on.
- With the AirPods inside, open the charging case lid.
- For AirPods (4th generation), double-tap the front of the case until the status light begins to flash white. For all other AirPods models, press and hold the setup button on the back of the charging case until the status light flashes white.
- Once the status light is flashing, your AirPods should appear in the list of available Bluetooth devices on your Android phone. Tap on your AirPods in the list to connect.
