How to Reset Your AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max [VIDEO]
Apple has recently released a new support video on YouTube, guiding users through the process of resetting their AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max.

Whether your AirPods aren’t charging, experiencing connection issues, or you’re troubleshooting other problems, a reset can often resolve these common issues by restoring the device to its factory settings.
Here’s a step-by-step guide based on the latest instructions from Apple to help you reset your AirPods and get them working like new.
Resetting AirPods (1st, 2nd, 3rd Generation) and AirPods Pro
- Place AirPods in the Charging Case:
- Start by placing your AirPods back into their charging case and closing the lid.
- Wait for 30 seconds to ensure they’ve completely disconnected from your devices.
- Forget Your AirPods in Bluetooth Settings:
- On your paired iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
- If your AirPods appear under “My Devices,” tap the More Info button (the “i” icon) next to their name.
- Tap Forget This Device and confirm the action when prompted.
- Open the Charging Case Lid:
- After 30 seconds, open the lid of your AirPods charging case to prepare for the reset.
- Press and Hold the Setup Button:
- On the back of the AirPods case, locate the small setup button.
- Press and hold this button for about 15 seconds until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white. This indicates that the reset process is complete.
Once your AirPods have been reset, you’ll need to reconnect them to your iPhone, iPad, or any other device by following the standard pairing process. You’ll see the familiar connection prompt pop up on your screen, and your AirPods should be ready to use again.
Resetting AirPods Max
- Press and hold the noise control button and the Digital Crown for 15 seconds, until the LED flashes amber, then white.
- After you reset your AirPods Max, connect them to your iOS or iPadOS device, or connect them to your Mac or other device.
