PlayStation 5 Pro Now Available in Canada for $959

Today, Sony officially launched its PlayStation 5 Pro in Canada and other global markets. The high-end console is now shipping for $959 CAD.

Earlier this year, Sony revealed the PlayStation 5 Pro. The new console within the PS5 ecosystem touts performance boosts as well as improvements to graphical fidelity. This is all thanks to three key cornerstones provided by the new hardware.

The PlayStation 5 Pro supports new GPU architecture, providing a 67 percent boost from the base model, according to Sony. In addition, the console provides support for advanced ray tracing, offering better lighting refractions and reflections in puddles. Finally, the new hardware offers AI-driven upscaling via PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology.

PlayStation 5 Pro also comes with 2TB SSD storage. As an all-digital console, the expanded storage space will come in handy when installing your library of games. Sold separately, the PS5 Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive can be added to use physical media. There’s also a vertical stand attachment avaialble to purchase as well.

In September, pre-orders for PlayStation 5 Pro went live. The hardware can be purchased across Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, and other Canadian retailers. As of the time of writing, units haven’t sold out in any major capacity so if you’re thinking of purchasing online, you’ll likely be able to nab a unit even on launch day.

At launch, there are over 50 games with PlayStation 5 Pro enhancements. These games takes advantage of the upgraded GPU to provide smoother frame rates of up to 120Hz (depending on your display). The PlayStation 5 Pro enhanced games include Alan Wake 2, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Horizon Forbidden West, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and many more. Even if I wanted to get it, all my games are on discs, and disc drives are out of stock everywhere.
