According to industry veteran Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s strategic push into the smart home market has been anticipated for some time, and in 2026, the tech giant plans to unveil its first smart home IP camera.

This marks Apple’s entrance into the competitive smart home surveillance sector, a market that currently sees annual shipments of around 30–40 million units globally. Apple’s long-term vision for this product line is ambitious, with targets of shipping over 10 million units annually.

Goertek will be the exclusive assembly supplier for Apple’s smart home IP camera, a contract that strengthens the supplier’s position within Apple’s supply chain. The new camera is expected to seamlessly integrate with Apple’s existing ecosystem of products, and will leverage advanced technologies like Siri and artificial intelligence.

The camera’s wireless connectivity will also allow it to pair easily with other Apple devices such as iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks.

AirPods, Apple’s popular wireless earbuds, are also set for a major upgrade in 2026. Health management features are expected to be the central focus of future AirPods models, following in the footsteps of the Apple Watch, which has successfully integrated health-tracking capabilities.

Goertek’s role as the main supplier for the 2026 AirPods model solidifies its importance in Apple’s supply chain. The inclusion of health-related features like heart rate monitoring, temperature sensing, and fitness tracking will likely be a key differentiator in a competitive market.

The Apple-Göertek partnership had hit a rough patch in previous years, resulting in a decline in Goertek’s revenues from Apple. However, with these two major NPIs in hand, Goertek is poised for a robust recovery.
