Meta’s Threads Testing New Custom Feeds Feature
Meta’s Threads is testing a new feature to enhance user engagement by allowing the creation of custom feeds tailored to specific interests, The Verge is reporting.

Announced by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the feature enables users to curate feeds focused on their favorite topics, profiles, or themes, simplifying the experience of following niche interests like sports teams or tech news.
The process for setting up a custom feed on Threads is straightforward. Users can search for a topic, tap the three-dot menu next to the search term, and select the “create new feed” option.
Alternatively, profiles can be added to a custom feed by tapping the three-dot icon above a user’s profile photo and selecting “add to feed.” Once created, these personalized feeds are accessible from the main menu bar, alongside the “For You” and “Following” tabs.
However, Threads does not yet allow users to set these custom feeds or their “Following” feed as the default view, keeping the “For You” tab as the starting point for browsing.
Alec Booker, a Threads spokesperson, elaborated on how these feeds operate. “Custom feeds will display a combination of posts from the profiles you’ve added and search results for the selected topic,” he said. Posts appear in reverse chronological order, ensuring that users see the latest updates first.

Threads’ implementation bears resemblance to Bluesky’s custom feeds feature, which debuted last year. While Bluesky’s feed creation often involves technical knowledge or the use of third-party tools like SkyFeed, Threads offers a more intuitive and accessible process, aiming to appeal to a broader audience.
The custom feeds feature is currently in a limited testing phase, accessible to a small number of users worldwide. However, Threads plans to make this tool available to a wider audience in the near future.
