Apple’s Running Shoe Emoji Now Available as a Real Sneaker

Apple’s running shoe emoji has stepped out of the digital world and into reality, thanks to artist and designer Jose Wong’s new sneaker, the Shoe 1, The Verge is reporting.

Released through Wong’s brand, ABCD, the Shoe 1 is priced at $219.90 and is available in sizes 5 through 12, with shipping set to begin within a week of purchase.

The Shoe 1 boasts premium materials and thoughtful craftsmanship. Its upper section combines full-grain nubuck leather with mesh panels, ensuring durability and breathability for wearers. For comfort, the midsole and heel are made of lightweight EVA foam, complemented by a polyurethane rim that provides “all-day support.”

The sneaker also features eco-conscious elements, including a rubber outsole made with 5% recycled materials. Inside, the foam insoles are printed with an electronic circuit pattern referencing an “A(BCD)5 processor,” a playful nod to Apple’s A-series chips.

Even the packaging of the Shoe 1 mirrors Apple’s signature minimalist design philosophy. The shoe box reflects the clean, streamlined aesthetic synonymous with Apple products, enhancing the unboxing experience for buyers.

The Shoe 1’s silhouette also draws inspiration from the iconic New Balance 574, first released in 1988. Though Steve Jobs was famously loyal to New Balance sneakers, he was most often seen wearing the 991 and 992 models, not the 574.
