Upcoming M4 MacBook Air Models Spotted in macOS Sequoia 15.2 Update

Apple’s macOS Sequoia 15.2 update, which started rolling out on Wednesday, contains references to a pair of unreleased MacBook Air models — reports MacRumors.
The latest macOS update was released with software files for “Mac16,12” and “Mac16,13.” While likely a mistake on the tech giant’s part, the leaked files reference the “MacBook Air (13-inch, M4, 2025)” and the “MacBook Air (15-inch, M4, 2025),” all but confirming that new MacBook Air models are in active development with a potential launch right around the corner.
The consensus around the rumour mill has been that Apple plans to update its entire Mac lineup with its all-new M4 chips. Renowned Apple leaker Mark Gurman reported back in October that the MacBook Air’s M4 refresh, consisting of 13-inch and 15-inch models codenamed J713 and J715, was gearing up to enter production, pegging it for a Spring 2025 launch.
If Apple sticks to the reported timeline, we could see the new M4 MacBook Air models come out sometime between January and March. Word along the grapevine suggests that the M4 MacBook Air models will feature the same overall design as their predecessors, with most of the upgrades coming on the inside — chiefly the new and more performant M4 chip.
