How to Customize Your AirPods Pro Controls [VIDEO]
Apple has released a helpful new video on its YouTube support channel, guiding users on how to customize various settings for AirPods and AirPods Pro.

From renaming your AirPods to tweaking noise control modes and tap gestures, these options ensure a tailored listening experience. Here’s a detailed walkthrough of the customization features available for different AirPods models.
Renaming Your AirPods
You can assign a personalized name to your AirPods in just a few steps:
- Place your AirPods inside and open the case.
- On your device, navigate to Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap the “More Info” icon next to your AirPods, then tap the current name. Enter a new name, tap Done, and your AirPods will have a fresh identity.
Customizing Press-and-Hold Actions on AirPods Pro
The press-and-hold functionality on AirPods Pro (including models with Active Noise Cancellation) lets you toggle between noise control modes or activate Siri. Here’s how to configure it:
- Ensure your AirPods Pro are connected to your iPhone or iPad.
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the “More Info” icon next to your AirPods, and find the Press and Hold AirPods section.
- elect Left or Right and customize their functions. For noise control, choose the modes you want to toggle (such as Noise Cancellation, Transparency, or Off). If you’d rather activate Siri, assign it to one of the AirPods.
Adjusting Double-Tap Actions for AirPods 1 and 2
For earlier AirPods models, you can set double-tap gestures to control playback, invoke Siri, or navigate between tracks. Follow these steps:
- Make sure your AirPods are connected to your device and securely in your ears.
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth or directly to Settings > [Your AirPods].
- Tap the “More Info” icon next to your AirPods, select Left or Right, and assign your preferred action. Options include play/pause, skipping tracks, or summoning Siri.
