Google Makes Gemini AI in Workspace Plans Free–With a Catch

Google is making it easier for businesses to use artificial intelligence at work by including advanced AI tools in its Google Workspace Business and Enterprise plans, but with a catch.
Gemini AI tools allow summarizing of meeting notes or organizing emails, saving productivity. Over 100,000 businesses already use AI for tasks like coding, brainstorming, and analyzing data, gaining an edge over competitors, says Google.
So what’s new? Google is rolling out AI features for Business and Enterprise Workspace plans starting now. Gmail, Docs, Meet, Chat, Gemini AI app and NotebookLM Plus will be available, offering a vareity of AI features to save you time.
But new today is a change in pricing. Before, businesses had to pay extra for AI features, but now they’re included in the base price of Workspace plans.
Google says for example, instead of paying $32 US per user per month for the Workspace plan with AI tools, businesses now pay $14 US—just a $2 increase from the regular plan without AI.
You can find the new Google Workspace plan Canada pricing below:
- Business Starter: $11/month; $9.20/month (annual; was $7.80)
- Business Standard: $22/month; $18.40/month (annual; was $15.60)
- Business Plus: $34.40/month; $28.70/month (annual; was $23.40)
It’s too bad there isn’t an option to make Gemini opt-in. Instead Workspace plans are going up in price instead, which will definitely affect small business users as they’ll have to pay more for plans, for example.
Google says they will be also be updating subscription pricing starting March 17, 2025.
