‘Severance’ Raked in Over $200 Million for Apple TV+: Report

Apple TV+ original series Severance has brought in more than $200 million USD for the streamer, per a new report from Deadline.

Severance Season 2 premiered on Apple TV+ in Canada and other global markets last week, with new episodes dropping every Friday until the finale on March 21, 2025. Apple TV+ continuing with a weekly drip-feed schedule for the series makes sense given how profitable Severance Season 1 reportedly was for the tech giant.

The numbers come from Parrot Analytics, which uses its Content Valuation methodology and a specialized formula to calculate subscription revenue based on audience demand for content.

Parrot’s figures put the critically acclaimed first season of Severance right in line with Apple TV+ standouts like Slow Horses and The Morning Show. According to the company, the former made $184.8 million over a similar timeframe as Severance Season 1, while the latter generated $299.4 million over a longer period. Meanwhile, Apple TV+ flagship Ted Lasso pulled in a whopping $609.4 million between Q3 2020 and Q3 2024, as indicated by Parrot.

“The critically acclaimed first season of Severance not only aligns with Apple’s premium brand, but provided a long tail of value for the streamer,” said Parrot’s Senior Entertainment Industry Strategist, Brandon Katz.

Parrot’s research suggests Severance Season 1 was popular for catch-up viewing and rewatches, collecting almost half of its revenue in the 12 months following its finale. The series has enjoyed critical success since its debut, winning several awards and being nominated for lots more.

Severance stars Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, and John Turturro in a psychological sci-fi thriller where employees’ minds and memories are divided between their work and personal lives. The series is written and created by Dan Erickson and directed by Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle.
