Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Space-Time Smackdown Expansion Available Now

Pokémon TCG Pocket‘s ‘Space-Time Smackdown’ expansion is now available on all platforms. Introducing two new decks to begin collecting, the Space-Time Smackdown expansion adds what the studio describes as ‘dimension-altering Pokémon ex’ cards.

Launching today across all regions, Pokémon TCG Pocket is receiving support for a total of 155 new cards. This spans everything from Pokémon ex cards, new trainers, and new immersive cards, featuring beautiful animations. When logging into Pokémon TCG Pocket, you’ll be met with the new Dialga and Palkia decks. As with other decks, you’ll be able to open each new deck using your daily allotments or utilize Hourglasses to expedite the process.

Earlier, Pokémon TCG Pocket developer DENA CO. and The Pokémon Company posted some highlights from the new decks. Cards to look for include:

  • Dialga ex
  • Palkia ex
  • Lucario
  • Mars
  • Pokémon Communication

This week, Pokémon TCG Pocket also added the function to trade with other players. Over the first few days since it’s became available, the feature has been widely criticized as predatory by many. Expanding the Social Hub in the game, two players can initialize a trade, offering one card for another. However, much like other functions in the game such as Wonder Picks and opening packs, there is a cooldown system in place that can be expedited by Poke Gold, purchased with real-world money. To trade, players must have Trade Tokens. To get them, players must sacrifice a number of cards. Some cards, especially those with four diamonds, require 500 Trade Tokens.

Pokémon TCG Pocket quickly rose to notoriety when it launched in late October 2024. Within the first week of being on the App Store and Google Play Store, the game had begun garnering upwards of $3 million per day and accumulated 10 million installs.
