Apple’s iPhone SE 4 is Coming Next Week: What to Expect

Apple is set to unveil a major redesign of the iPhone SE in the coming days, marking a significant update to its budget-friendly iPhone, reports Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman (the unofficial Apple whisperer).

According to sources, the fourth-gen iPhone SE could be announced as early as next week and go on sale later this month. We won’t see a special event; instead, Apple is expected to quietly reveal the phone on its website with a press release, according to unnamed sources.

The new iPhone SE will ditch the home button and adopt a design similar to the iPhone 14, bringing Face ID and a larger screen. It will also feature Apple Intelligence and a faster A18 chip. The device will be Apple’s first iPhone with an in-house cellular modem, replacing Qualcomm’s chips.

Hints of the new release are already appearing. Apple stores in the U.S. are running low on iPhone SE stock, a common sign before a product refresh. Certain configurations are also delayed for shipping until March.

In Canada, iPhone SE orders are currently showing delivery dates as late as February 19 in B.C.

Apple has already discontinued the current SE in the EU due to new USB-C charging requirements. And yes, the iPhone SE 4 will have USB-C.

Apple has not announced pricing yet, but with the new design and upgraded features, the cost could rise above the current $579 CAD price tag. With current exchange rates and a weak Loonie, Apple may adjust local pricing, as it has done in the past.

However, it is still expected to be cheaper than the flagship iPhone models and could help Apple boost sales in markets like China and India, where it faces increasing competition.

The iPhone SE 4 reveal will also coincide with the launch of PowerBeats Pro 2 earbuds, which Gurman says could be announced as early as February 11. These will be the first earbuds from Apple with a built-in heart rate monitor.
