Pokémon Presents Announced for February 27, Celebrating Pokémon Day

It’s official, a Pokémon Presents livestream will be held next week on Thursday, February 27 at 9 AM ET/6 AM PT. To celebrate Pokémon Day, the annual Pokémon Presents will offer updates and new announcements surrounding the global phenomenon of Pokémon.
Pokémon Day is an annual celebration where The Pokémon Company reflects on the debut launch of Pokémon Green & Pokémon Red in Japan. Typically, each Pokémon Day is accompanied by a Pokémon Presents event. This year is no different. It’s been revealed that the Pokémon Presents will be held on the official YouTube channel.
The short 50-second video offers very little information on what to expect. Occasionally, Pikachu will wander on and off the screen. While cute, its inclusion doesn’t support any hints for what the presentation includes. Even the description of the video is fairly secretive. “Come celebrate this very special day with Pokémon Trainers around the globe,” it states.
With all that said, however, there are still some things we can speculate on. The first is that the Pokémon Presents will likely include news and updates on Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which is slated to release in 2025. As a refresher, Pokémon Legends Z-A is the upcoming open-world sequel to Legends: Arceus. It will take place in the Kalos region, first introduced in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. The announcement trailer (which debuted on Pokémon Day 2024) showed that it’ll focus on the urban development at Lumoise City, based on Paris. Outside of the debut trailer, we don’t have much information on how the series is expanding from its predecessor.
The other likely suspects to appear during the Pokémon Presents are Pokémon TCG Pocket and Pokémon GO. For marquee mobile titles with constant updates, we’ll likely see some substantial announcements during the event. Pokémon TCG Pocket recently released its Space-Time Smackdown expansion. However, we’ve yet to officially be shown what will be next for the game.
In recent news, Pokémon GO developer Niantic has been reportedly having discussions to sell its gaming division to Saudi Arabia’s Savvy Games Group developer Scopely. The deal is said to be valued at approximately $3.5 billion.
