Apple’s Foldable iPhone May Not Feature a Visible Display Crease

Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone may introduce some breakthrough display technology. While still aways off from hitting the market, new reports suggest the in-development iPhone may feature a display without a visiable crease.

According to ETNewsApple is in the process of finalizing component orders with suppliers for the foldable iPhone. Throughout this process, Apple expected to land on a supplier that will be able to provide a foldable display without any visible crease marks. This is something that currently affects even the most popular foldables on the market.

“Apple has decided to eliminate the crease at all costs, regardless of price, to differentiate its foldable phone from existing models,”ETNews says in its report. “It is believed that a new material property has been developed to make the crease disappear.” This is all according to news stemming from an industry insider. It’s claimed that Apple is targetting the month of April to complete the supplier selection process. Once completed, Apple will inch closer to productions. This is said to kickstart sometime in the beginning of the second half of 2025.

If Apple is indeed able to remove the display crease from its foldable iPhone, it’ll solve one of the most common issues that affect foldables. Even major tech brands like Samsung, Google, and Huawei have all failed in creating a foldable smartphone without a visible display crease. Thus, Apple may become a leader in foldables simply for paving a path forward for other manufactures to follow.

It’s been said that Samsung Displaywill be providing the OLED panels for Apple as the exclusive supplier. Working in tandem with Apple, Samsung Display has reportedly developed a display specifically for Apple and has cracked the code on it ever since last year. It’ll be the first manufacturer to mass-produce foldable OLED displays.

It’s been heavily reported that Apple’s foldable iPhone could make its way to the market in 2026. Under the codename ‘V68’, it’s believed the device could feature an in-folding design. Other rumours peg the foldable to have a 5.49-inch outer display with a 7.74-inch main display when unfolded. There have been the occassional reports that the device may be delayed until 2027. However, all of it is conjecture until Apple is ready to launch the anticapated new device.
