Apple’s Foldable iPhone Set for 2026 Launch, Says Report
When will Apple launch a foldable iPhone? According to The Information, plans have moved forward for a debut possibly in early 2026.
Sources cite Apple has reached out to its supply chain in Asia to produce components for the foldable iPhone, which have also received a formal codename, “V68”, according to the paywalled report seen by 9to5Mac. The foldable iPhone is now beyond its concept stage and has become an official product in development.
As for some iPhone 16 lineup tidbits, The Information says there will be a new capture button on the right side, while batteries will gain a new easier replacement method. Overheating on new iPhone 16 models will be addressed thanks to a larger graphite sheet inside the chassis.
We also get some iPhone 17 lineup rumours, with one model next year set to gain a major camera upgrade with a mechanical system to control aperture size, resulting in a new variable aperture instead of fixed. This means bokeh, or depth of field background effects, can be customized thanks to the camera hardware, instead of using software tricks (as we see in the iPhone’s Portrait mode).
Earlier this year, we heard about a foldable iPhone being delayed to 2027 due to technical challenges. Now we’re hearing it’s moving forward to 2026. What do we believe?
A foldable iPhone would be worth upgrading to as that’s something entirely new. But we know a first-generation foldable iPhone will likely be very expensive, as we’ve seen with existing Android foldable smartphones.

No interest in a flip phone, I barely have interest in a fold phone. The flip style phone I just don’t see the point of it
Then why did you comment seems like you have nothing better to do but complain
Btw we call people like that simpletons which is every Poilievre supporter
If that is what apple thinks their users would want they'd be falling behind big time as any flip or fold has a front screen that work great (Samsungs can be with a workaround) so if Apple doesn't read the room then they'll never be in the flip or fold market
