YouTube Milestone: 1 Billion Monthly Active Podcast Viewers

YouTube has officially become the most frequently used service for listening to podcasts in the U.S.
The company says there are now over 1 billion monthly active viewers tuning into podcast content (as of January 2025), making YouTube the go-to platform for both audio and video podcasts.
YouTube says this success is thanks to its search and recommendation algorithms, which help users discover new shows, as well as the growing number of podcasters in its revenue-sharing program. YouTube also highlighted the increasing popularity of video podcasts, noting that last year, users watched over 400 million hours of podcasts per month on TVs alone.
“Today’s podcasters are driving culture, creating “must see” and “must hear” shows while becoming bonafide superstars themselves. Everything from “talk shows” like Club Shay Shay and New Heights, to true-crime genre-benders like Rotten Mango and Murder, Mystery and Make Up. These creators inspire us at YouTube to keep working on making it the best home for all your favourite podcasts. More to come, and thanks a billion!”, said Tim Katz, Vice President of Partnerships for Podcasts, at Google on Wednesday.
The popularity of YouTube continues to grow and it’s far from over. Earlier this month, Google said YouTube consumption on televisions has surpassed mobile devices as the main way to watch videos in the U.S.
