Apple has launched the new M4 MacBook Air and this time it comes with a new blue colour, 12MP Center Stage camera plus a tiny price drop in Canada, if you can believe it.

“MacBook Air is by far the world’s most popular laptop, and today we’re giving everyone even more reasons to love it, including a big boost in performance with the M4 chip, a new Center Stage camera, and a beautiful new sky blue color,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Combined with its thin and light, fanless design, all-day battery life, and the incredible capabilities of macOS Sequoia with Apple Intelligence, MacBook Air is unlike any other laptop. And with a new lower starting price of $999 USD, MacBook Air delivers more value to consumers than ever before, making this the perfect moment to upgrade or experience the Mac for the first time.”

Sky blue is a metallic light blue that joins midnight, starlight, and silver, and again comes with a colour-matched MagSafe charging cable.

Apple says the M4 MacBook Air is “2x faster than M1” and battery life of 18 hours. MacBook Air now supports up to two 6K external displays, plus the laptop’s display itself. You can now get up to 32GB RAM (was 24GB for M3) with the MacBook Air.

The M4 chip starts at 10-core CPU and GPU and 16GB RAM with 256GB SSD, priced from $1399 in Canada. That’s a $50 price drop compared to last year’s M3 MacBook Air. Education pricing starts at $1249 in Canada.

But gone are the M2 and M3 MacBook Airs. Previously, the M2 MacBook Air was still available for $1299. Now you need to pay at least $1399 for a MacBook Air unless you go with a refurbished unit.

You can pre-order the M4 MacBook Air today and launches on March 12.

iPhone in Can editorial staff sure were certain that Apple was going to raise the price of the MBA. Especially doom and gloom John Quintet. Instead they didn’t just maintain it despite the falling loonie… they actually lowered it! iPiC still found a way to make it into a negative however. *Sigh*

They lowered it by $50, but they also eliminated the $1299 M2…so you’re still paying $100 more than before to jump into a MacBook Air 🙂
