Bell Sneaks Third-Party Ads into the MyBell App – Users Aren’t Happy

Bell Canada’s MyBell mobile app allows customers to fully-manage their services with the company while on the go.
The MyBell app allows users to manage all their Bell services anytime, anywhere. With the app, customers can track Mobility usage, pay bills, change TV programming, adjust Internet packages, upgrade devices, and activate new lines. It also provides access to Bell’s 5G network, travel options, and customer support. Users can shop for new services, modify rate plans, and run speed tests, making it a one-stop solution for managing Bell accounts.
But now it seems the MyBell app has gained something else that’s new: ads.
A Bell customer earlier this week shared a screen recording on Reddit of their MyBell app. Scrolling down, we see a third-party ad spot, which was showing an ad from Chinese online retailer, Temu:

“Do they really need to squeeze out every dollar out of their customers,” asked the Bell customer. “The ads are pretty well blended into the app as well. Someone like my parents would easily think it’s an offer that Bell is offering.”
The comments dived right into the issue, with many dropping zingers such as “Bibic needs his bonus” and “they gotta pay those severance packages somehow.”
As of the end of Q1 2025, Bell’s mobile phone customer base is approximately 10,339,644 subscribers, with 9,586,986 postpaid and 752,658 prepaid subscribers. Even if 50% of these customers are using the MyBell app, that’s still generating a tonne of eyeballs to the ad spot inside the app.
