Last week Apple debuted a flurry of new device upgrades, unleashing updates for iPad Air, iPad, MacBook Air and Mac Studio.
These aren’t new product categories, but one new item was pegged to debut in March at one point—the company’s rumoured smart home hub. That’s according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Sunday PowerOn newsletter.
The device code-named J490 is said to include an iPad-like display, while its purpose was to let users control their smart homes. Now, Gurman is saying Apple “had hoped” to announce the product in March. But it was postponed because the device relies on delayed Siri features, which Apple made official on Friday, in a rare omission.
Gurman says for now, Apple is internally testing the home hub by letting some employees take it home to put it through its paces.
One day, we’ll get a working Siri that’s actually smart. One day.

IMO, I think Apple should just scrap Siri entirely and replace her with a newer, better, rebranded digital assistant.
What I am truly thankful for is that I trusted my gut when it came to apple intelligence and did not buy any new apple products that highlighted it. Holding off.
