Bell Launches 8 Gbps Pure Fibre Internet for Businesses
Earlier this month, we told you Bell had brought back 8 Gbps Fibe internet in a surprise move. Now, this faster fibre internet is available for small businesses.
Bell told iPhone in Canada in an email today it has expanded its Pure Fibre 8 Gbps Internet service to businesses in select areas of Ontario and Québec.
“This significant speed increase offers businesses enhanced connectivity capabilities, supporting various business needs and applications. Bell Pure Fibre 8 Gbps provides businesses with a powerful Internet solution,” said a Bell spokesperson to iPhone in Canada.
Here is where 8 Gbps coverage is available today from Bell:
Ontario
- Toronto and the GTA (Ajax, Whitby to Brampton/Mississauga)
- Ottawa (including Kanata and Orleans)
- London
- Kitchener
- Guelph
- Georgetown
Québec:
- Levis
- Montreal, Laval, and the Greater Montreal Area
- Québec City
Bell says it will continue expanding its 8 Gbps coverage, which was first introduced back in the fall of 2022. Last February, as part of Bell’s 4,800 job cuts and closures of radio stations, it also capped its fibre speeds down to 3 Gbps, citing the CRTC’s 2023 wholesale access ruling.
The decision to bring back 8 Gbps internet in Ontario and Quebec comes as Telus is also now offering its fibre internet in both provinces, which debuted last fall. Competition appears to be good for consumers.
