Telus Brings High-Speed PureFibre Internet to Ontario and Quebec

Telus pure fibre ontario.

Telus has expanded its PureFibre Internet service to residents in Ontario and Quebec, offering some of the fastest internet speeds available in Canada.

Telus PureFibre Internet provides download speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps and upload speeds of 1.0 Gbps, using a 100% fibre-to-the-home connection, meaning all parts of the internet connection are handled by fibre optic cables straight to customers’ homes.

“We’re excited to bring the power of Telus PureFibre Internet to Ontario and Quebec, offering fast and reliable connectivity that empowers customers and communities to thrive in today’s digital world,” said Zainul Mawji, Executive Vice-president and President, Telus Consumer Solutions, in a statement.

This now means this faster high speed internet brings smooth streaming, gaming, browsing, and connecting on multiple devices at once without any lag. Telus PureFibre users in Ontario and Quebec also have access to special package deals, bundling their internet with Telus mobile plans, SmartHome security, and the Stream+ streaming service.

As for pricing, Telus says you can get PureFibre Internet 1.5 Gigabit from $99/month on contract, bundled with a wireless plan.

The service includes Wi-Fi 6 technology, built into the company’s modem. Telus is planning to expand PureFibre Internet further into Eastern Canada, including the Atlantic provinces, so stay tuned for that.

Earlier this year, Telus launched 5 Gigabit speeds in Western Canada.

That’s what I was wondering too. Wasn’t Bell the only telco that actually laid pure fibre in the ground straight to ppl’s homes, (ie. FTTH) several years back across neighborhoods in Ontario?

They are. Telus has a long-standing partnership with Bell in the cellular/mobile market, so this is just an extension of that.

Initially you might see a few introductory deals for show, but ultimately their prices will align with Bell's, which is who they partner with.

Have a look at BC's prices where they actually own the fibre and you'll see what I mean. $120/mo for 250mbps service at regular rates.

The only way to get a cheaper rate is to call in when your contract is expiring and cancel your service. Really cancel it, schedule it a couple of weeks out. I guarantee that before your cancellation takes effect you'll be offered a good deal. Half price or thereabouts is a reasonable expectation. If you have an offer from the competition in hand, even better.

It's annoying that we have to play this game every two years, but it is what it is. If you don't chicken out, you'll cut your bill down significantly.

recently had a chat with someone who works in Bell and they informed me due to the new CRTC ruling for Bell to share his fiber network to resellers, they stopped expanding FTTH service to residential customers and they will expand FTTH only to high-rises and businesses going forward. so for anyone who is not having FTTH yet (me included), we are out of luck for getting FTTH anytime soon.
so if Telus is going to use Bell fiber then we won't see Telus expanding to anywhere that Bell is not going to offer FTTH.
