Xbox Series X/S Consoles Testing New Game Hub Feature, Highlighting Game Info Screen

Microsoft has begun testing a new Game Hubs feature on Xbox Series X/S consoles. Select players have begun seeing a new information screen when booting up a game from their library.
As first reported by Video Game Chronicle, Xbox’s Game Hubs add a step when selecting a game. Rather than automatically launching the title, this in-development feature will show an information screen with pertinent information and stats regarding the selected game.
When selecting a game to play, the Xbox Game Hubs information screen highlights stats such as total playtime. Players can also see their current Gamerscore and the most recent Achievements unlocked. Additionally, the Game Hubs will show available DLC that can be purchased and the most recent photos or videos captured for the game. Depending on the title, Game Hubs will also show an Events tab, which will detail in-game events that are available.

To bypass the Game Hubs screen, players will have to hit the ‘A’ button on their controller once more. Overall, the inclusion of this feature adds one extra button prompt to launch back into a game. As of the time of writing, it doesn’t appear as though Game Hubs affects the status of titles using Quick Resume.
“You’ll see information relevant to the game you’ve selected, such as your player stats, achievements, friends who are playing, recent captures, available add-ons, events, and more,” the description of the feature reads on Xbox consoles. “And, if you’re in a hurry to start playing, the default focus in Game Hubs will always be on the Play button to enable a seamless ‘double-tap to play’ experience from the game tile.”
According to the report, “a random subset of players” have been selected to test this feature. It’s unclear if and when this feature will be released to a wider player base across Xbox Series X/S consoles.
