Leaked iOS 19 Mock Ups May Not be ‘Representative’ of Current Design: Gurman

This week, alleged leaker Jon Prosser shared iOS 19 mockups. However, it’s now being claimed that the software redesign shown in the leak may not represent the iOS 19 design Apple has up its sleeve.

This clarification comes from Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, who took to Threads to discuss his thoughts on the matter. In a post, Gurman claims that the “iOS 19 images floating around aren’t representative of what we’ll see at WWDC.”

Gurman continues to claim that the mockup images are based on “very old builds” or “vague descriptions.” Gurman also notes that the mockups are “missing key features.” He then closes out by stating that we’ll likely hear more about iOS 19 during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), held in June. “Regardless, mockups – real or not – are always exciting for Apple watchers,” he says.

Prosser’s images depicted a tweaked version of iOS. The images included several minor updates to the design of the UI. This includes more rounded buttons and changes to navigation within the Messages app. The Lock Screen was also shown to have minor tweaks made to the visual identity. However, while the overhaul looked to be minor, Prosser believed that menus, apps, and settings would have a more rounded aesthetic, almost akin to visionOS.

However, Gurman believes that iOS 19 will be a much more drastic overhaul of the software. Earlier this month, Gurman reported that iOS 19 could “fundamentally change” to look of the operating system, bridging the cross-platform experience. The earlier report claims this may be the largest redesign of the software since the introduction of iOS 7.

This week, Apple announced its annual WWDC will take place from June 9 to 13, 2025. It’s here that we’ll likely get our first glimpse at iOS 19 prior to its release later this year.
