Uber and OpenTable Enter Global Partnership to ‘Enhance Dining Experience’

Uber and OpenTable have announced that the two companies have entered a new “strategic partnership” that’ll be used to pair the two services to enhance the dining experience.

As revealed by Uber and OpenTable, the two companies will be developing integrations for Uber, Uber Eats, and OpenTable apps to offer dining reservation access and seamless transportation options, membership benefits and other perks. Across Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia and Ireland, these integfrations will allow for the more than 1 million restaurants worldwide that partner with the companies to collaborate on new ideas.

As of the time of writing, the companies haven’t explicitedly stated what new perks or offers will arrive for customers in Canada and other global markets. However, the comapanies teased that the collaboration will be used to develop ” opportunities to drive revenue, engage existing diners.” One possible user perk would be the ability to book a reservation on OpenTable and then seamlessly book an Uber ride to get you there on time without having to swap between apps. However, this is purely based on speculation.

“We’re always looking for ways to help people go out and get the best of their cities,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber said in a press release. “As a first step, our partnership with OpenTable will make it easier than ever to find and book a great restaurant and get there without a hitch. And we’re excited to continue making Uber One even more valuable to our members.”

Uber and OpenTable has confirmed that the partnership will roll out in phases throughout 2025. Both companies are said to be commited to expanding features and deepening integrations over time.
